Mrs. Carnell Franklin Climer, a housewife of Conditt Hollow Lane in the Elmwood Community died at the age of 73 at 2:28 p.m. Saturday afternoon November 23, 2019 at the Summit Medical Center in Hermitage where she was admitted November 15th being treated for cancer.
Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted on Tuesday afternoon November 25th from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Gregory and Bro. Jeff Burton officiated at the 1 p.m. services and burial followed in the Cedar Grov3e Cemetery in Lebanon.
One of twelve children, she was born Carnell Franklin in the Brooks Bend Community of Jackson County and was seven daughters and five sons born to the late Lonnie B. Franklin who died May 18, 1984 at the age of 68 and Cloe Lucille Thompson Franklin who died August 8, 2001 at the age of 79.
Siblings preceding her in death were former South Carthage Mayor L. B. Franklin who died at the age of 73 on November 26, 2013, Linda Franklin who died as an infant at the age of 1 week old, Pamela Sue Franklin who died as a child at the age of 4, another sister, Kathy Evyone Franklin Moss who died at the age of 41 pm August 9, 2005, Buford Clyde Franklin who died at the age of 55 on January 30, 2007 and Larry Odell “Curly” Franklin who died at the age of 70 on May 8, 2018.
In Lebanon at the Wilson County Courthouse on April 24, 2001, she was united in marriage to Elmwood Community native Bobby Ray Climer. The ceremony was performed by then Wilson County Clerk Jim Goodall.
Mrs. Climer was a former leather cutter at Hartman Luggage in Lebanon until leaving the public sector in 1995.
While living in Lebanon she attended the Lebanon First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of over eighteen years is her daughter, Karen Carmack of Lebanon, step-daughter, Donna Kay Climer Bruce and husband David of Cookeville; five siblings, Janie Creswell, Patricia Montgomery and husband David all of Lebanon, Vickie Allen and husband Larry of Cookeville, Stanley Franklin of Carthage, Glen Franklin and wife Pam of Gainesboro.
